Carbon Fiber Structural Reinforcement Of Concrete

Carbon Fiber Structural Reinforcement Of Concrete Slabs, Walls, Columns, And Beams

BEAM RETROFIT WITH CARBON FIBER

Carbon fiber structural reinforcement is a high-strength structural reinforcement system with mechanical properties similar to steel used for strengthening and/or repairing structures such as reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, and wood. The system consists of carbon fiber sheets, which are impregnated with high-strength epoxy adhesive to form a laminate that is externally attached to the components to be reinforced.

The carbon fiber structure reinforcement system is a non-destructive reinforcement system, which makes this bonded reinforcement system more economical and has a shorter implementation time compared to traditional reinforcement systems.

Column reinforcement

CFRP is used to improve the ductility and resistance of concrete columns. Due to the benefits of constraint effects, the ductility of the column significantly increases.

In addition, the CFRP system helps to compensate for insufficient number of side ties or improper details, and significantly improves the shear strength of the column.

advantage

Increased ductility

Increase shear resistance

Increase axial load capacity

Lightweight and easy to install

Can be wrapped between columns with variable cross-section

Cost lower than alternatives such as steel lining

BEAM RETROFIT WITH CARBON FIBER

Beam reinforcement

The CFRP system improves the bending and shear resistance of concrete beams.

In order to increase the Flexural strength, the fabric is attached to the tension surface. To resist shear, the fabric is attached to the web of the beam.

It can also be used to reinforce and repair cracked steel beams. It has been proven that the cracked beam repaired using the CFRP system is stronger than the original undamaged beam.

advantage

Increase bending resistance

Increased shear resistance

Not reducing available space

Lightweight and easy to install

Cheaper than alternatives

Restore the full capacity of the broken beam

Reinforcement of concrete floors and walls

The CFRP system significantly increases the forces on the walls and floor surfaces, interior, and exterior of concrete buildings.

It is very lightweight and applied to these types of structures in roughly the same way as surface coatings, but at the same time it will provide significant strength, just like sprayed concrete has been applied to structures.

advantage

Improve Flexural strength of concrete surface

Increase in plane shear resistance

Will not significantly increase the weight of existing structures

Due to the lack of added weight in structure, there is no need to modify the base

The thickness of the CFRP system is less than one-eighth of an inch and does not occupy any volume

The CFRP system converts concrete surfaces (floors or walls) into collaborative steel structures.

Cost lower than alternatives such as sprayed concrete

Quick and Easy Installation

Concrete slab reinforcement by carbon fiber sheet

Concrete slab reinforcement

CFRP fabric is attached to the bottom of the plate (positive torque area) or the top of the plate (negative torque area) to increase bending strength.

advantage

Increase bending resistance

Reduce deviation

Lightweight and easy to apply

Protect the board from future environmental damage

Cost lower than alternatives

tank strengthening by carbon fiber wrap

Reinforcement of storage tanks and pipelines

One of the most economical and effective applications of CFRP systems is to reinforce buried pipelines. Concrete and steel pipes can be reinforced to withstand greater pressure than originally designed, and the cost and time are only a small part of the alternatives.

For pipes with a diameter greater than 1 meter, all operations are carried out from the inside when entering through the manhole.

If the pipeline is not buried, coating can be applied on the outer side of the pipeline to achieve the same benefits.

CFRP can be used to reinforce leaking or corroded steel pipes to compensate for wall thickness loss caused by corrosion.

This application can also make pipelines waterproof and prevent leakage. The steel pipe lining can withstand higher pressures than the initial design.

advantage

No need for excavation

Improve pipeline strength, even higher than its original pressure level

Only accessible through access doors

Create a very smooth surface and significantly improve pipeline flow

The thickness of the CFRP system fabric is one-eighth of an inch, so it will not reduce the inner diameter or flow rate of the pipeline.

Lightweight and easy to apply

Installation does not require heavy equipment

Cost lower than alternatives such as steel wall panels
