Concrete Frame Shear Wall Strengthening

concrete frame shear wall strengthening - carbon fiber and steel plate

A hotel has an 18-story frame shear wall structure with a construction area of approximately 23,508 m2. The 1st to 3rd floors are the lobby, catering, fitness and entertainment, and conference service spaces. The 4th ~ 6th floors are the hotel's internal staff offices, catering and changing rooms. The 7th to 9th floors are apartment-style office floors. The 10th to 18th floors are standard rooms and superior business rooms. The hotel officially started the construction of the pile foundation in December 2004. Later, due to funding problems of the construction party, the construction of the hotel was suspended in 2008. When the construction was suspended, the main structure was capped. The project was idle for 8 years. At the beginning of 2016, the owner changed its use function to a four-star hotel and resumed construction. In order to meet the use function of the main structure, the main structure is tested, and the structure that does not meet the requirements needs to be reinforced.

The existing problems of the main structural concrete members: some concrete members have low concrete strength and fail to meet the design strength requirements. Some concrete components have excessive carbonation depth, exposed tendons, cracks, and corrosion of steel bars.

On the basis of rechecking the bearing capacity of the main structure of the hotel, the analysis concluded that: due to the low concrete level of some components, the bearing capacity of some components cannot meet the requirements of the design specifications, and corresponding reinforcement should be carried out. Excessive carbonation depth, cracks, steel corrosion, etc. of some concrete components will affect the normal use performance and durability of the building and must be treated.

Structural reinforcement treatment plan

Frame column: The concrete column whose concrete strength is low and cannot meet the requirements of bearing capacity shall be reinforced with externally bonded steel.

Frame beams: The concrete beams with low concrete strength that cannot meet the bearing capacity requirements are reinforced by sticking steel plates.

Cast-in-place slab: For concrete slabs whose concrete strength is low and cannot meet the requirements of bearing capacity, the method of sticking carbon fiber fabric on the bottom of the slab is used for reinforcement.

After the project is reinforced according to the above-mentioned reinforcement plan, after inspection and acceptance, all indicators can meet the design requirements, the reinforcement effect is good, and the cost is low. It has been in use for two years and has a good structure, which meets the requirements for use after functional changes, and achieves the effects of safety, reliability, economic feasibility and convenient construction.
