Carbon fiber strengthen structural column of old factory building

Project Overview 


The original Shanghai cold-drawn steel factory building in the downtown area of Shanghai is a four-story single-storey building structure, which was first built in the 1960s. This reconstruction project intends to transform the original single-storey factory building into a three-storey frame structure.


The stirrup cultivation of the structural columns of the reinforced concrete bent structure of the four workshops does not meet the requirements of the current seismic evaluation and design specifications. The rest basically meet the requirements of the current seismic identification and design specifications, and it is recommended to reinforce the unsatisfied columns. The reinforcement of the bent columns of these three factories meets the 7-degree fortification requirements of the current seismic code. It is recommended to strengthen and repair the damaged columns and supports.

Material properties


(1) This project uses UD200 produced by carbon yarn imported from Japan. The main performance indicators are shown in Table 1.

(2) The structural adhesive is HM-180c3p, and its main performance indicators are shown in Table 2.

The thickness of the carbon fiber wrap is 0.111 mm, and two layers of carbon fiber hoops are pasted according to the clear height of the column to meet all requirements.



Conclusion


Through the use of carbon fiber cloth reinforcement engineering, we can see that carbon fiber reinforcement has the following advantages:

① High tensile strength (tensile strength is about ten times higher than secondary steel), good effect

② After reinforcement, it can greatly improve the corrosion resistance and durability of the structure

③ Light weight (about 200g / m2), basically does not increase the structure weight and cross-sectional size; good flexibility, easy to cut, wide range of application, suitable for any shape:

④Convenient construction (no need of large construction organization and turnover materials), no wet operation, easy to operate and good economy;

⑤ The construction period is short. This project uses carbon fiber cloth to reinforce the structure to achieve good results, and also provides a reference for the same type of structural reinforcement problems.
