Bonding carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) wrap in reinforced concrete cornice and balcony

The reinforced concrete cornice and balcony not only can not satisfy the normal use, but also brings the hidden danger to the owner's daily trip, so strengthening with carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) wrap.

Engineering survey

The building was completed in 1983 and put into use in 1984. It is a 6 story brick concrete structure. Because of a long disrepair, the roof and the roof of the window are badly damaged, which are mainly manifested in the loosening of the concrete weathering, the phenomenon of falling off, the exposure and corrosion of the steel bars, and even the breakage of the eaves in the connection with the wall. This situation not only can not satisfy the normal use, but also brings the hidden danger to the owner's daily trip.

Reinforcement maintenance program:

(1) when the cornice is broken off at the junction with the wall, all the cornice should be removed and the FRP should be installed on the windows.

(2) on the eaves, the concrete protective layer is loose and shedding.

(3 the roof of the top floor should be strengthened with carbon fiber reinforcement wrap.

(4) after the reinforcement is completed, the outer wall of the cornice is painted with waterproof paint.

(5) If the roof-pressing failure of the balcony wall is serious, all the balconies are removed and re-poured. The thickness of the roof-pressing is 80mm, and the concrete is C25 fine stone concrete.
