Summary： The 45th anniversary of the Tangshan earthquake, the anti-earthquake spirit will be passed on from generation to generation

At 3:42 am on July 28, 1976, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. In just 23 seconds, the century-old industrial city was almost razed to the ground. Data officially released three years later showed that the Tangshan earthquake caused a total of 242,769 deaths, about 7,200 families disappeared overnight, and more than 4,200 children became orphans.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Tangshan City, with an intensity of 11 degrees. Tangshan City was severely damaged and most of the ground buildings collapsed.

Starting on the morning of July 29, medical teams from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang and other places rushed to the downtown area of Tangshan. Numerous seriously injured people were carried on the plane and sent to major cities for first aid.

In the absence of large lifting tools, the PLA soldiers used both hands to push away the heavy objects to save people.

A cable broadcast was set up on the earthquake debris, and the Central People’s Broadcasting Station immediately set up a reporting team to go to Tangshan to participate in earthquake relief reports.

The Tangshan Earthquake brought the city a pain that can never be erased. However, in the arduous earthquake relief efforts, and with the selfless assistance of the military and civilians of the whole country that "difficulties on one side, support from all sides", the people of Tangshan demonstrated to the world their courage to never surrender in the face of disasters and their determination to rebuild their homeland. The painful history of the great earthquake also reminds people from time to time that disasters cannot be forgotten, but the anti-earthquake spirit of "forgetting selfishness, sharing weal and woe, persevering, and going forward courageously" must be passed on from generation to generation.
